The more I play PokeRogue, the more I think it's a really well-made game. In the main Pokémon series I always loved the egg system, and PokeRogue has a similar system. In the mainline games you had to walk around to hatch eggs, but there's none of that here — instead, eggs hatch after you clear a certain number of waves.
PokeRogue Egg Gacha and Egg Hatching Odds Guide ?
This time I want to take a closer look at the Egg Gacha and egg hatching odds in PokeRogue. Getting eggs in PokeRogue is one of the most important ways to obtain new Pokémon. So in this post I'll go over the types of egg pulls and their rates, plus the effects you can get when an egg hatches.
Egg Gacha Types and Rates ?
In PokeRogue you obtain eggs through the Egg Gacha by using Egg Vouchers. There are 6 types of egg pulls — Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Legendary Gacha Target, and Manaphy — each obtained at a different rate.
Common Egg ?
A Common egg is obtained at a 203/256 rate, and hatches into a 1-3 cost Pokémon after 10 waves.
Rare Egg ?
A Rare egg is obtained at a 44/256 rate, and hatches into a 4-5 cost Pokémon after 25 waves.
Epic Egg ?
An Epic egg is obtained at a 7/256 rate, and hatches into a 6-7 cost Pokémon after 50 waves. It mostly yields sub-legendary or Mythical Pokémon.
Legendary Egg ?
A Legendary egg is obtained at a 1/256 rate, and hatches into an 8-10 cost Pokémon after 100 waves. It mostly yields Legendary Pokémon.
Legendary Gacha Target Egg ?
A Legendary Gacha Target egg can't be obtained from the normal gacha — it's only available from the Legendary UP! gacha at a 1/256 rate. After 100 waves it hatches into the Legendary Pokémon that was featured in the gacha.
1.6 Manaphy Egg ?
A Manaphy egg is obtained at a 1/256 rate and hatches after 50 waves. There's a 1/8 chance it hatches into Manaphy, and a 7/8 chance it hatches into Phione. I'm not really sure why the Manaphy egg is broken out separately — if you know, please leave a comment.
Effects You Can Get When an Egg Hatches ?
Pokémon that hatch from eggs tend to roll high IVs, and one random Egg Move is unlocked. One of 4 Egg Moves is chosen, and if it was a locked move, it gets unlocked. If a move that's already unlocked is chosen, nothing happens.
Each Pokémon has 4 learnable Egg Moves — 3 are normal moves and 1 is a rare move. The chance of learning the rare Egg Move increases the higher the egg's rarity. ( Legendary egg 1/6, Epic egg 1/12, Rare egg 1/24, Common egg 1/48 — and the Move UP! gacha doubles the chance of learning the rare Egg Move )
Personally, I think egg hatching is the most effective way to power up Pokémon in PokeRogue, because you can get Pokémon with high IVs and a special Egg Move. In particular, rare Egg Moves include moves learned via TM, moves the Pokémon normally can't learn, and even other Pokémon's signature moves, so they can greatly boost a Pokémon's combat ability.
How to Get Egg Vouchers ?
To do the Egg Gacha you need Egg Vouchers. There are four types of Egg Voucher — Regular, Plus, Premium, and Gold — each obtained in a different way.
Regular Egg Voucher ?
A Regular voucher lets you pull 1 egg, and if you do a 10-pull with 10 of them, one Rare egg is guaranteed.
How to get | Obtained by defeating a Gym Leader, Elite Four member, or Champion you've already beaten in Classic Mode.
Egg Voucher Plus ?
An Egg Voucher Plus lets you pull 5 eggs.
How to get | Obtained by clearing Classic Mode with a Pokémon that has no Classic Mode clear record, or by defeating a Gym Leader or Elite Four member you've never beaten in Classic Mode. You can also get one by clearing a round that's a multiple of 50 (excluding multiples of 250) in Endless Mode.
Egg Voucher Premium ?
An Egg Voucher Premium lets you pull 10 eggs, with one Rare egg guaranteed.
How to get | Obtained by defeating a Champion you've never beaten in Classic Mode, or by clearing Classic Mode (from the 2nd time onward) or a Daily Run (once per day only). You can also get one by clearing a round that's a multiple of 250 in Endless Mode.
Egg Voucher Gold ?
A Gold voucher pulls a whopping 25 eggs..!! It guarantees 1 Epic egg. I thought Premium was the highest tier, but it turns out it isn't.
How to get | Obtained the first time you clear Classic Mode. From the second clear onward, you get an Egg Voucher Premium instead.
Gacha Machines
The gacha machines come in Move UP, Legendary UP, and Shiny UP versions. As the names suggest, each one boosts its respective rate, so pick whichever one you need.
The Legendary UP gacha machine features a specific Legendary Pokémon, which rotates on a 23-day cycle. The chance of pulling that featured target Legendary is 1/256, and the chance of pulling a different (non-target) Legendary egg is also 1/256. So the overall chance of getting a Legendary Pokémon is 1/128.
