PokeRogue Shiny Guide: How to Get Shinies, Shiny Odds, and Why Shinies Are Worth It

Shinies in PokeRogue

In PokeRogue, shiny Pokémon aren't just a rare collectible — they actually serve a useful role. When you catch or hatch a shiny, you get bonus candy based on its Common, Rare, or Epic grade. A Common shiny gives 5x, a Rare shiny gives 10x, and an Epic shiny gives a whopping 20x candy!

How to Get Shinies

In PokeRogue, you can get shinies at a low rate by catching a shiny Pokémon you encounter while playing, or by hatching one from an egg.

The standard shiny encounter rate is 1/2048, which is very low. From hatching an egg it's 1/128, so the odds are higher than in the wild.

The Luck Effect of Shinies

Beyond just candy, shinies grant a Luck effect. If a shiny is in your party and hasn't fainted, it affects the tier of items that show up in the shop. A Common shiny raises Luck by 1 point, a Rare shiny by 2 points, and an Epic shiny by 3 points, up to a maximum of 14 points. The higher your Luck points, the higher your chance of buying rare items in the shop.

Tips for Collecting Shinies

- If you fuse two shinies with DNA Splicers, their Luck points are added together.
- If you choose a shiny as your starter Pokémon, you get the highest-grade Luck effect regardless of its appearance. If you own an Epic shiny, you get 3 Luck points even in its regular appearance.
- The wild shiny encounter rate is 1/2048. Each Shiny Charm doubles the rate, so holding the maximum of 5 raises it up to 1/32.

- The shiny hatch rate is 1/128. In the Shiny UP! gacha machine it's 1/64, twice as high.
- When a shiny hatches, its IVs are rolled twice and the higher number is taken.

The Appeal of Variant Shinies

In PokeRogue, you can also encounter variant shinies.

The rarity odds are reportedly Common 60%, Rare 30%, and Epic 10%. By collecting shinies and enjoying the Luck effect, it seems you can obtain better items.
